Out & About In Athens
In the interactive Out and About language programs,
there are plenty of activities that afford users opportunities to
learn and practice valuable words, phrases, and expressions for
getting 'out and about' in the specific city.
In Out and About in Athens, users learn words, phrases,
and expressions that are helpful for: navigating around town; reading
and recognizing street signs, store signs, and traffic signs; taking
public transportation; understanding street directions; buying food in

Introduction
The program you are about to use is the first in a series of multimedia
language/orientation courseware designed for members of the official
American community who have not had the opportunity to have language
training. The general goal of these programs is to demystify the process
of leaving the embassy cocoon and getting Out and About
in large, and perhaps formidable, cities where a modest amount of
language capability can make a tour richer, more productive, and more
enjoyable.
Out and About in Athens is the result of an enormous amount
of creativity, effort, and teamwork on the part of FSI's School of Language
Studies and the Office of Multimedia and Library Services.
