The Turkish Basic Course is an introduction to spoken Turkish in that it includes the major patterns of simple sentences and vocabulary of about 475 high frequency items. It provides a basis for communicating with Asian Turks as far east as Sinkiang Province in China and as far west as the Tatar regions on the Volga. The course enables students to communicate in all but the most isolated Kurdish villages. Each unit begins with a dialogue between two or more speakers. Many of the units also include variation and lexical drills, questions for discussion, notes, grammar and vocabulary drills, and narratives. This two level course provides introductory materials in modern spoken Turkish for students who want to learn to speak and understand the language of the over 63 million people mainly in Turkey and Cyprus. The first level is concerned with basic dialogues, grammar, and vocabulary. Level Two continues the dialogues with exercises in comprehension and vocabulary, for students who wish to go on to greater mastery of the language. The course assumes the student has no prior knowledge of Turkish and is fully self-instructional. Volume I contains 14 CDs and a 417 page textbook or 1 DVD with all lessons on MP3 with the textbook in a PDF file format. Volume II contains 13 CDs and a 370 page textbook or 1 DVD with all lessons on MP3 with the textbook in a PDF file format. .
